Thread, spools, daily subscription to the New York Times, Ikea Table and Chair
Large spools of machine embroidery thread attached to the ceiling unravelled into piles on the floor. At a table in the center of the space, the day’s New York Times was available to be read. Visitors were invited to sit at the table, read the paper, watch the thread, or watch the activity in the street outside. This was right after the Abu Graib images graced the front cover of the New York Times. Ronald Reagan died during the exhibition. Over time the thread became more and more tangled in the space.
